Sundargarh: An elderly man was allegedly hacked to death on the suspicion of practising sorcery at Kulabapada under Kinjirkela police limits of Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Haladhar Bhoi (58).
Police said, the body was found in a pool of blood about 200 metres from his house in the morning. Local residents suspected that the man might have been killed over suspected witchcraft.
Police have seized the body and sent it for postmortem. An investigation was started into the incident.
A police officer said that a youth has been detained for interrogation and the reason behind the killing will be known after the investigation.
