Man Hacks Daughter’s Lover To Death With Axe In Odisha’s Kashipur

Rayagada: A youth died and a girl sustained critical injures after allegedly being attacked by the latter’s father over their love affair in Kashipur area of Odisha’s Rayagada district.

The accused has been identified as Bijay Majhi.

According to sources, the duo had eloped about two days back. The girl’s father later asked them to return home on the pretext of solemnising their marriage. However, he attacked them with axe on Tuesday night, resulting in the death of the youth on the spot. He then fled leaving behind the profusely bleeding girl, assuming that she had also died.

On being informed, police rescued the critically injured girl. She was initially admitted to Kashipur Community Health Centre and later shifted to districts headquarters hospital in Rayagada as her condition deteriorated.

Sources further said that the girl might be shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital Berhampur as her condition remains remains critical.

Meanwhile, police are said to have nabbed the accused but are yet to disclose anything on the case.
