Puri: A man allegedly hacked his father to death in an inebriated state at Sanakanti village under Pipili police limits in Odisha’s Puri district, late on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Hrushikesh Pradhan (60).
According to sources, his son, Jeetu Pradhan, regularly consumed alcohol and returned home in a drunken state last night. When Hrushikesh confronted Jeetu, the latter chased him with an axe. As he attempted to flee, Jeetu caught hold of him, dragged him back to the house and hacked him to death.
Sources further said that Jeetu used to harass his parents for money to buy liquor. The family saw frequent quarrels and his parents were fed up with his liquor addiction.
On being informed by villagers, police reached the spot and recovered the body for postmortem. Jeetu has been detained for questioning.
