Sambalpur: An elderly man was hacked to death by his neighbour allegedly over a land dispute in the district on Wednesday.
After receiving information, the police reached the spot and detained one Dubaraj Pradhan in the neighbourhood of the deceased.
According to police sources, 67-year-old Tularam Nayak of Kuanramal village under Dharuadihi police limits was working near his house when his neighbour Dubaraj Pradhan reached the spot with a scythe. Before Tularam could react, Dubaraj attacked him with the weapon. As Tularam died on the spot, Dubaraj fled.
Tularam’s son, who was not present in the home when the incident took place, filed a complaint with the police. He said there was a dispute between Tularam and Dubaraj over a patch of land for past 40 years.
