Keonjhar: A man allegedly hacked his wife to death over dowry and then surrendered before police in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Sunday.
According to sources, the accused, identified as Rathia Sethi of Ragada village under Telkoi police limits, used to quarrel with his wife Sulochana Behera over dowry. They had an argument over the issue again on the day.
As Sulochana rebuffed Rathia for harassing her over the demand repeatedly, the latter attacked her with an axe in a fit of rage. Sulochana died on the spot.
Later, Rathia surrendered before police and confessed to the murder. The police have registered a case and arrested him. A team from Telkoi police station along with a scientific team went to Ragada to collect evidence.
Meanwhile, Sulochana’s father told the media that Rathia used to torture Sulochana for dowry and had even threatened to kill her.
