Cuttack: A man was arrested by the police in Odisha’s Cuttack city for allegedly duping a youth of Rs 8.45 lakh on the promise of getting him a job in the railways.
The accused, identified as Daniel Raj of Chajata Nagar in the city, was arrested by the Bidanasi police of Cuttack Urban Police District (UPD) for defrauding the job-seeker, sources said.
Police said the accused was arrested based on a complaint lodged by the youth, who hails from Soro area in Balasore district. The youth approached the police after Daniel did not secure him a job as promised after taking the money. When the youth sought his money back, the accused die not refund it.
After thorough probe, Daniel was arrested and forwarded to court. Further investigation is in progress to ascertain if the accused has cheated other people.
