Bhubaneswar: Police arrested a cyber fraudster from Khandagiri area of the capital city on Saturday.
Bhubaneswar DCP Umashankar Dash said the man identified himself a customer care agent of State Bank of India and duped a man of Rs 2 lakh. A search was launched after a complaint was filed at cyber helpdesk.
Explaining how the complainant fell victim, Dash said he was searching for SBI customer care number on Google when he came across a mobile phone number and made a call. The fraudster impersonated as customer care agent of SBI and managed to obtain all personal information from the victim, the DCP added.
Stating that they received around 10 such cyber fraud cases in November he urged people not to Google customer care number of any organisation or institution for assistance and use toll free number.
