Balasore: A man has been arrested for posing as a police officer and demanding money from a truck driver in Odisha’s Balasore district on Saturday.
The man has been identified as Mahi Ranjan Das from Arjunpur village under Khaira police station limits.
According to sources, four youths stopped a truck at Toranipada square of Anantapur under Soro police limits under the pretext of checking their documents as police officers. They demanded money from the driver and the owner Ajay Panda paid Rs 3,000 in an online transaction.
When the truck owner got to know the extorters were not cops, he filed a police complaint. After investigation, police nabbed Mahi and he has been forwarded to court.
