Bhubaneswar: Three days after a traffic police constable was crushed to death under a vehicle on NH-16 near Jayadev Vihar flyover in Bhubaneswar, police o Tuesday arrested a man allegedly involved in the hit-&-run case.
The accused, identified as Prasanta Kumar Naik (28) of Gahiragadia in Cuttack district, was arrested on Tuesday from Rasulgarh in Bhubaneswar, police said.
Traffic police constable Madhusudan Kirshani had died after being hit by a brown colour truck at around 10.10 pm on Saturday night.
According to sources, the accident took place when he was returning home at Khandagiri after duty hours on his motorcycle around 10.30 pm. A native of Malkangiri, he was deployed at Ram Mandir Square traffic post. It is being suspected that Kirshani, who was wearing a helmet, was crushed to death under the wheels of a heavy vehicle.
A case has been registered and police are examining CCTV footage of the area to trace the killer vehicle and the accused.
