Man Held For ‘Killing’ Daughter In Kandhamal

Kandhamal:  A man allgedly killed his two-year-old daughter by slamming her on the floor in a drunken state at Mundabali village in Odisha’s Kandhamal district.

The accused, identified as Arabinda Pradhan, was forwarded to court on Saturday.

According to police sources, he returned home drunk on Friday afternoon.

Seeing him in a such condition, his wife Kumudini reprimanded him. An enraged Arabinda tried to thrash her, but she managed to run away from the house. He found his two-year-old daughter playing in the courtyard. Unable to get hold of his wife, the tipsy man took her daughter and slammed her on the floor.

Following the incident, the villagers rushed to the house and took the girl to the government hospital at Baliguda, where the doctors declared her ‘brought dead’.

The villagers severely thrashed Pradhan and tied him to a pole.

On being informed, Daringbadi police rushed to the spot and arrested Pradhan. The body of the little girl was later sent for post-mortem.
