Bhubaneswar: A person has been arrested from Lok Seva Bhawan in Odisha capital on charges of defrauding a job seeker of Rs 12 lakh by posing as a Section Officer of Panchayati Raj Department.
The accused has been identified as Byasadev Rana (47), who hails from Narla area in Kalahandi district. He was residing in Ekamra area of Bhubaneswar for the last few days.
According to sources, Rana nabbed near a gate of the Lok Seva Bhavan on Friday on the basis of a complaint lodged at Capital police station by Purna Chandra Parida of Pipili in Puri district. The complainant alleged that he took Rs 12 lakh on the false pretext of providing him a government job.
Sources further stated that Rana had been using a fake identity card to access Lok Seva Bhawan and win confidence of job seekers.
