Nayagarh: One person sustained critical injuries in an explosion in an illegal firecracker producing unit in Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Saturday.
According to sources, Dhaneswar Dalei of Tarabalo village under Fategarh police limits in the district was running the illegal firecracker unit from his house.
While he was making the firecrackers on the day, there was an explosion and the fire spread to the entire house as the entire stock of crackers went up in flames.
On being informed, the Fire services personnel went to the village and doused the fire. They along with villagers rescued Dhaneswar from inside the house.
Dhaneswar, who had sustained critical burn injuries, was rushed to the community health centre (CHC) at Bhapur. Later, he was shifted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar as his condition deteriorated.
The Fategarsh police have registered a case in connection with the illegal firecracker unit and started investigation.
