Nabarangpur: In a tragic mishap, a man was killed and three children were injured when a school bus dashed against a motorcycle in Raighar area of Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Wednesday.
Sources said the incident took place near a petrol pump on Raighar-Kundei main road. The deceased was identified as Samaru Gond (60) of Turudihi village who was riding the bike.
The bus was carrying around 20 students of Biju Patnaik Modern Public School when it collided with the bike from an opposite direction. Eyewitnesses said the bus was negotiating a curve and heading towards the fuel station when the collision occurred.
While Samaru Gond died on the spot, three school students on the bus sustained injuries. The minors were identified as Himanshu Gond, Dharitri Gond – both in Class 1 – and Mukesh of Class III. They were immediately taken to a hospital for treatment.
On getting information, a police team visited the spot and seized the body for postmortem. A case has been registered. The bus driver has been detained.
