Baripada: A man, whose body was found at Kaptipada in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday, was allegedly murdered by two acquittances for Rs 35,000, sources said on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Chittaranjan Behera of Padmapur village under Silpanchala police limits in Balasore district. He was into hotel business and had been missing since Sunday. His family, which had lodged a missing complaint with police, identified his body from a tattoo on his hand.
Police have also detained three persons, including Prafula Behera of Balasore, in connection with the alleged murder. They had alleged buried him with 4 kg salt to cover up the crime. The chopper knife and hoe used by the accused have also been seized.
While attributing the murder to some dispute over money matters, sources further said that he was brought to the area on the pretext of a feast. A Rs 25,000 deal was also struck among the accused. They had received Rs 5000 in advance and the remaining Rs. 20,000 was to be paid after the murder.
