Bhadrak: In a shocking incident, a 44-year-old man was allegedly killed by a pack of jackals in Basudevpur area of Odisha’s Bhadrak district.
Sources said some residents of Kumarpur under Basudevpur police limits spotted a body near the village pond early in the morning on Tuesday. It was being gnawed by jackals. The villagers drove away the animals. The deceased was identified as Sarat Sahu of the village.
Family members of the deceased said Sarat had gone to the pond late on Monday night along with his fishing angle, but he did not return home.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and started an investigation into the incident. The body was seized for postmortem.
Though the exact reason Sarat’s death is yet to be ascertained, his family members and locals suspect that he might have been killed by jackals. Investigation into the incident is in progress and further details are awaited.
