Dhenkanal: A man was allegedly beaten to death by his tenant following a dispute over vacating the rented accommodation at a village in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.
The incident reportedly took place at Baunsapal village under the jurisdiction of Kamakhyanagar police station in the district after the landlord, identified as Rohit Pradhan, asked his tenant to vacate the house.
As per preliminary information, Rohit had rented out his house to one Neera Bhutia and his wife over one year ago. As per the deal finalised at that time, the couple was supposed to vacate the house after four months. However, the two continued to stay there.
When Rohit asked Neera to vacate the house as already the deadline was over long ago, the accused got very angry. In a fit of rage, Neera allegedly attacked Rohit with a wooden plank, leading to his death.
On being informed, police rushed to the site and launched a probe. They apprehended Neera, who was hiding in a nearby forest after committing the crime, and interrogated him. Further details are awaited.
