Nayagarh: A man was killed in a group clash over bursting firecrackers on the occasion of Diwali in Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Monday.
According to sources, Bikash Behera, a criminal of Madhyakhand village under Daspalla police limits in the district, along with his friends were bursting crackers at night. When some villagers opposed them, a heated exchange of words ensued.
The angry argument led to a clash between the friends of Bikash and the villagers. During the clash, Bikash was stabbed by an unidentified person from the villagers.
A profusely bleeding Bikash, who sustained critical stabbing injuries, was rushed by his friends to the district headquarters hospital at Nayagarh. But he was declared brought dead there.
On being informed, police went to the village and registered a case after preliminary investigation. Nobody has been arrested in this connection. Around 15 cases are pending in different police stations against Bikash, the sources said.
