Balangir: A man was killed and his wife critically injured as their motorcycle was hit by a car carrying a police officer in Odisha’s Balangir district on Monday.
As per reports, the accident took place when Paleswar Ghibela and his wife Pinki of Durgapali in Bargarh were going on a bike to Balangir. The IIC of Titlagarh in Balangir district Manoj Pradhan was also returning to his office in a car from Bargarh.
The IIC’s car hit Paleswar’s bike from behind near Chhatamakhana village of Balangir district on National Highway 26. Both Paleswar and his wife were thrown off the bike and fell down on the road. While Paleswar died on the spot, Pinki sustained critical injuries.
The locals rushed Pinki and Pradhan, who was also injured in the accident, to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir. Later, Pinki was shifted to VSS Medical College and Hospital at Burla in Sambalpur as her condition deteriorated.
On being informed, local police went to the accident spot and registered a case. Further investigation is on.
