Man Kills 4-Year-Old Daughter In Odisha’s Sundargarh

Sundargarh: Police are on the lookout for a man for who allegedly killed his minor daughter in Hatinga area under Koida police limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh district.

According to reports, the accused Arun Lakhua, a ragpicker, stays with his two wives and a 4-year-old daughter.

On Monday (September 21), Arun severely thrashed his daughter with a stick in the absence of his two wives.

On their return, the two wives found the minor girl in a serious condition and rushed her to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Koida and later to a government hospital at Badabil. After treatment, they returned to their house. However, the girl succumbed to her injuries.

After coming to know about the death, Arun and his second wife took the deceased to cremate in a slum area in the Unit-6 area of Rourkela.

As the locals informed the police, Arun and his wife managed to escape.

Following a complaint by the first wife Gita Lakhua on Thursday, the Koida police registered a case and cremated the body of the minor in consultation with the Rourkela Police.

Efforts are on to nab the absconding couple, police said.
