Nabarangpur: A man in an inebriated condition allegedly stabbed his son and a neighbour to death in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Friday.
According to sources, the man, identified as Radha Santa of Bujamapadar village under Maidalpur police limits in the district came to his house after consuming alcohol in the afternoon. He was engaged in an argument with his wife Malati as the latter objected to his drinking habit.
As the argument escalated, Radha in a fit of rage tried to hit Malati with a stick. But she managed to save herself by running out of the house.
Radha, who was highly agitated at the time, hit his two-year-old with an axe repeatedly. On watching Radha attacking his minor son, Janai Santa, an old woman who was his neighbour, rushed to the spot and tried to save the child.
But Radha attacked her also with the weapon. Both the minor boy and the old woman died on the spot. Following this, the villagers caught hold of drunk Radha and beat him up.
After Janai’s son Simanchal filed a complaint against Radha, a team from Maidalpur police station went to the village and took Radha into custody.
The police also sent the two bodies for post-mortem and registered a case. Further investigation is on.
