Balasore: In a gruesome incident, a man allegedly killed his parents in an inebriated condition and buried their bodies secretly at a village in Simulia area of Odisha’s Balasore district.
The incident reportedly took place at Garasanga village under the jurisdiction of Simulia police station of the district four days back. The drunk man allegedly killed his parents over a land dispute, sources said.
A hunt is on to trace Ramesh, who has run away after the incident, they said.
As per information, Prabhakar Behera alias Bulei (90) and his wife Champa Behera (75) went missing four days ago. Their daughter Mamata Mallick lodged a missing complaint with Simulia police accusing her brother Ramesh Behera of killing her parents and hiding their bodies.
Based on her complaint, police launched an investigation and subsequently recovered the body of Prabhakar near his house while Champa’s body is yet to be traced.
Police dug up a place in front of the house after getting foul smell and Prabhakar’s body was found buried. The recovery of his body was carried out in the presence of a magistrate, IIC of Simulia police station and a scientific team.
Police suspect that Ramesh buried the bodies of his parents to destroy the murder evidence against him before fleeing the scene. It is suspected that he might have dumped his mother’s body in a nearby pond or buries it somewhere else before running away, sources added
