Man Kills Wife For ‘Dowry’ In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Saheed Nagar police on Friday arrested a person on charges of killing his wife for dowry at Bankuala village here.

The accused, identified as Ajit Rana of Bankuala, allegedly beat his wife to death with an iron rod.

The couple had married in 2015.

According to sources, there was an argument between them over property. Ajit had been pestering his wife Deepti Rani Rana to allow him set up a business on a patch of land at Balianta owned by her father.

When Deepti refused, Ajit hit her head with an iron rod. She was rushed to Capital Hospital here and died while undergoing treatment.

The accused had been on the run since the incident and was apprehended by police today.
