Man Kills Wife Over ‘Dowry’

Rourkela: A man was arrested for allegedly killing his wife over dowry in Sundargarh district on Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Liza Bhoi.

The incident was reported from Tulinga village under Hemagiri police limits in the district.

Police said Liza’s parents lodged a complaint alleging that the the accused, Sushant Bhoi, murdered her as she did not fullfil his demand for dowry.

Her family members alleged that Sushant beat Liza to death following a heated argument.

In a similar incident of dowry torture, two days ago, a man identified as Pradosh Barik was arrested after her wife Seema alleged that he set her on fire for dowry at Dingar village under Begunia police limits in Khurda district.

She later succumbed to burns while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bhubaneswar.
