Koraput: Around 5 months after, a man allegedly killed his wife and threw her body into the septic tank of his house, police recovered the decomposed body and arrested him on Sunday.
As per reports, the man identified as Dasarath Sahu of Kakiriguma village under Laxmipur block had married Gauri Sahu 25 years back. Their conjugal life was disturbed a few months back due to some issues. Gauri had informed her parents that Dasarath was abusing and assaulting her frequently.
Five months back, Dasarath had told Gauri’s family that she was missing from house. Suspecting foul play, Gauri’s family had filed a complaint with police. The police registered a case and started investigation but failed to trace Gauri.
A few days back, when Gauri’s parents enquired about their daughter over phone, Dasarath told them that she was staying with their son in Rayagada. The parents called up their grandson but he denied about his mother staying with him.
On Sunday, when Gauri’s parents informed police about it, the IIC of Kakiriguma police station Ullas Rout detained Dasarath and questioned him. During questioning, Dasarath confessed to police that he had murdered his wife and dumped her body inside the septic tank.
After Dasarath pointed out the place where he had disposed of Gauri’s body, a police team led by Laxmipur SDPO Aswini Kumar Nayak dug up the spot and exhumed the decomposed body. They have sent the body to forensic laboratory for necessary tests.
The police have arrested Dasarath and registered a murder case against him. Further investigation is on.
