Man Kills Wife For ‘Illicit Affair’ In Odisha’s Puri

Puri: A man allegedly killed his wife for having extra-marital affair with another man in Odisha’s Puri district.

According to police sources, Debaraj Sahoo of Durgapur village under Gop police limits in the district used to have frequent fight with his wife Kalpana Sahoo for her alleged illicit affair.

Debaraj had gone out on some work on Friday night. When he returned home late in night, he found Kalpana and her paramour in compromising condition.

Enraged over it, Debaraj scolded his wife and started to beat her. As Kalpana retaliated, things worsened and in a fit of rage, Debaraj hit her head with a wooden plank.

Kalpana, who sustained critical injuries on the head, fell on the ground unconscious. Out of fear, Debaraj did not inform anybody and Kalapana apparently died due to excessive bleeding.

On being informed by the villagers on Saturday morning, a team from Gop police station went to Debaraj’s house. They Kalapana’s body for post-mortem and arrested Debaraj.

The police have registered a case in this connection and started further investigation.
