Agartala: Thirty-eight-year-old Soumitra Reang of South Tripura District was arrested by the Belonia Sub-Divisional Police for killing his wife and keeping the dead body at home for three days.
The Indian Express quoted the police as saying that Soumitra killed his wife Sandhya Rani Murasingh, 30, in a fit of rage following an argument with her over liquor preparation on December 12.
When police reached the house of the accused on being informed by the neighbours, they found him hugging his dead wife and lying next to her on the bed.
Speaking to media on Tuesday, Belonia Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Soumya Debbarma said, “The accused was taken to a local hospital with head injuries. He was later shifted to Agartala for treatment. We shall produce him before the court once he is discharged.”
