Bhubaneswar: A man has been arrested on charges of killing his wife, at Tarini Nagar in Maitri Vihar area of Bhubaneswar.
The accused has been identified as Gauranga Jena, a native of Ganjam.
According to sources, he allegedly beat his wife to death with a wooden plank in an inebriated condition after a quarrel on Monday night. He then spent the next 3 days with her body in the house. The two children of the couple, who worked as daily wage labourers, were with their neighbours, who grew suspicious after foul smell began emanating from the house.
When they began enquiring about the stench, he confessed to having killed his wife.
On being informed, a team from Maitri Vihar police station along with a scientific team reached the spot and arrested him. They also seized the body for postmortem.
