Kendrapada: Overtaking a vehicle proved costly for Ranjit Patri of Sanamangala in Gopa of Odisha’s Kendrapada district. He is currently nursing his injuries at Kendrapada district headquarters hospital.
“Three days ago, three persons misbehaved with me at Sanamangala Chhak while I was returning home with my family. They were miffed at my attempts to overtake their vehicle. They hurled abuses at my father, pulled my mother’s saree and beat me up,” he said.
Ranjit said he had lodged a complaint with Town Police in this regard.
“Last night, two among them intercepted me near Gopa Chhak while I was returning home in a motorcycle with my friend from a filling station. They held me at gunpoint and thrashed me with a stick for filing a complaint with police,” he said, adding that he had lost consciousness and was later rescued by his friends.
“The condition of the patient is stable. He has fractures in his left leg. Since he has sustained injuries in his head, we will refer him to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.,” said Dr Sibashis Sahoo of the hospital.
Meanwhile, Kendrapada Sadar police have detained two persons for questioning in this regard. Further investigation is on.
