Paradip: A man lost his leg after he slipped from a train at Rangiagada Railway Station in Paradip on Tuesday.
The man, identified as Nanda Kishore Prasad, is a contractual labourer in Maruti Construction under the Paradip Oil Refinery.
The accident took place when Nanda was on his to Paradip from his home town in Bihar. He slipped from the train unknowingly.
He was admitted in Atharabanki Medical. Later, he was shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition.
In another news on Tuesday morning, five persons were killed and two sustained critical injuries after the SUV in which they were travelling overturned and fell into a canal at Bhailipur near Sukal.
Those injured were rushed to Chandanpur hospital for treatment.
The victims, hailing from Lalkamanga under Jarada police limits near Odisha-Andhra Pradesh border, were heading towards Puri for immersing the ashes of a dead person in the family when the driver of the ill-fated vehicle lost control over the vehicle. The vehicle s fell into the water body after skidding on the road.
However, the driver of the four-wheeler fled the spot soon after the accident.
