Man, Nephew Die After Consuming ‘Spurious’ Liquor In Odisha

Jagatsinghpur: A man and his nephew died at Sirasta village under Tirtol police limits in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district after allegedly consuming spurious alcohol.

The deceased were identified as Bibhuti Samal and Gopabandhu Samal.

According to sources, the duo complained of chest pain on reaching home and were rushed to community health centre at Patkura. They were later shifted to shifted to the district headquarters hospital at Kendrapada as their condition deteriorated but were declared received dead.

Though the exact cause of the deaths remains unclear, it is being suspected that the duo died due to alleged food or beverage poisoning. The family members, including Bibhuti’s mother, said that they were drinking the whole day.

Police have sent the bodies for postmortem examination and initiated an investigation into the matter.
