Cuttack: After being on the run for several days, a man was arrested by the police for allegedly raping and impregnating a 15-year-old girl in Bidanasi area of Odisha’s Cuttack.
Sources said the accused, identified as Pramod Nayak alias Jada, was arrested from Chennai by a team of police personnel. He was apprehended after police tracked the mobile number shared by the survivor while giving her statement.
The incident came to light after Child Welfare Committee (CWC) of Cuttack filed a case on December 30, several weeks after the girl was alleged raped.
The minor girl, a resident of Nischintakoili area in Cuttack district, had been rescued and shifted to Basundhara Shelter Home. She was allegedly raped by Pramod some weeks ago on the false pretext of providing employment.
