Cuttack: In an act of extreme cruelty, a man — whose goat had been bitten by a stray dog — poisoned 40 stray dogs in the Bhaunria panchayat of Mahanga police station in Cuttack district.
The accused, identified as Brahmananda Mallick, was infuriated after coming to know that his goat was bitten. Determined to take ‘revenge’, he took the help of one Bharat Mallick to kill all stray dogs in the village.
They mixed poison in pieces of meat and fed the dogs, which died soon after. It led to widespread outrage among villagers.
The sarpanch has filed a complaint against the duo, who are absconding. Police have started an investigation into the incident.
