A man onboard Hirakhand Express was reportedly duped by a stranger that he had befriended while travelling on the general compartment of the train.
The incident took place when Nilamadhav Suar boarded the train at Berhampur for Tikiri on Friday. He befriended a man who claimed to be from Koraput. When the trained reached Rayagada at night, Nilamadhav went to the rest room to relieve himself. He left his belongings, including the pair of pants he was wearing, in the care of the fellow traveller.
When he returned he found his things missing and his fellow traveller was nowhere to be found.
Nilamadhav had kept his wallet and mobile phone in the pants that he had left with the stranger. He got down from the train and started looking for the man but was unable to trace him.
