Baripada: A man was saved from drowning in a deep well due to timely rescue operation by the Fire services personnel in Odisha’s Mayurbhaj district on Monday.
According to sources, the man, identified as Bibekananda, had fallen into the well in his village Kurulia under Karanjia block of the district by accident. As it was a deep well, the villagers could not bring him out despite their best efforts.
One of the villagers called the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) to report the incident and sought help. The ERSS officials immediately informed Fire Service unit at Karanjia.
A team of firefighters rushed to the visit and started the rescue operation. They were successful in bringing out Bibekanada with the help of ropes and ladders. They also admitted him at the local hospital for treatment.
