Jajpur: A man allegedly sold his one and a half month old son for Rs 7,000 to meet household expenses.
The matter came to light after the man’s wife filed a police complaint on Monday.
The baby was rescued by Childline personnel and police have registered a case in this connection, sources said.
Sources added that the family hailing from Korei in Jajpur district work as labourers and because of abject poverty sold the baby to a middleman.
“The baby is currently in the custody of local Childline and police is probing the case further,” a member of the Childline said.
