Man Shot Dead By Brother-In-Law In Odisha During Poaching In Odisha’s Gajapati

Paralakhemundi: A man died of bullet injuries allegedly fired by his brother-in-law while they were on a hunt for wild boars at Bhaliagani village under Mohana block in Gajapati district late on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Kailash Nayak.

According to sources, the incident took place when a group of eight to ten persons from Bhaliagani village went to the nearby forest to hunt wild boars during Raja festival. While they were on the hunt, Kailash was hit by a bullet fired by his brother-in-law Uday Nayak which led to his death on the spot.

Mohana police reached the spot and seized the body. Uday has been detained at the Mohana police station and is being interrogated.

Though police are yet to ascertain whether Kailash was shot accidentally or was killed, residents suspect that it must have been a deliberate act as Kailash and Uday did not have good terms with each other.
