Nabarangpur: After a brief hiatus, Left-wing extremists again made their presence felt in Odisha’s Nabarangpur by allegedly shooting a man dead in Raighar area of the district.
The incident took place late on Friday at Laxmanpur village and the deceased was identified as Narayan Nagesh (38).
In some posters which they have left behind, Mainpur-Nuapada Divisional Committee of the outlawed outfit claimed responsibility for the death and termed Narayan Nagesh as a timber mafia, who was destroying forests in the area. “Narayan was punished because he was damaging the green cover.”
The incident has created panic among locals while police and security forces have been alerted.
Notably, Maoists had also killed a youth suspecting him to be a police informer at Khalepara area in the same district on February 23.
