Paralakhemundi: A man was seriously injured as he was shot by a youth for allegedly practising witchcraft in Odisha’s Gajapati district on Saturday.
As per reports, the incident took place when the victim, identified as Kapilendra of Ghodapanka village under Adaba police station of the district, was returning home on his bike. As he reached Ghodapanka school, an unidentified person hit him with a wooden plank. As he fell down from the bike, another person fired two rounds at him from a close range.
On being informed about the locals, a team from Adaba police station went to the village and sent Kapilendra to a hospital at Mohana. Later, he was shifted to the MKCG MCH at Berhampur,”
Adaba IIC Subhranta Kumar Panda told the media persons that one of the bullets hit Kapilendra’s thigh while another his bike. “Kapilendra could not identify the miscreants as they were wearing masks on their faces. But Kapilendra alleged that he was targeted on suspicion of practising witchcraft,” Panda said.
Kapilendra has filed a complaint at Adaba police station on the incident. The police have registered a case and launched investigation.
