Man Slits Estranged Wife’s Throat, Mutilates Live-In Partner’s Genitals In Odisha

Jajpur: A man allegedly tried to kill his estranged wife and her lover near Malahata locality in Odisha’s Jajpur on Wednesday in a rage-fueled attack over their affair.

The accused has been identified as Manoj Kumar Mohanty of Jarada village in Korei.

According to sources, the accused slit his wife’s throat and mutilated her live-in partner’s genitals using a sharp weapon. The victims were found with deep cuts to their necks and were swiftly taken to the district headquarters hospital by some locals. Their condition is stated to be critical.

Source further stated that the woman had left her marital home in Jarada nearly a year ago after being repeatedly harassed by her in-laws and had since been living with Prashant. In her statement to police, she said that her husband’s family deceived her and Prashant into going to the canal bank near Malahat under the guise of a family reconciliation meeting. “They called us to Sathipur Bridge near Malahat. Once we reached, my brother-in-law and my father-in-law’s nephew tied us up. Then they slit our throats and pushed us down,” she added.

Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation and efforts are on to nab Mohanty, who fled the scene after committing the crime.
