Malkangiri: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly killed his wife with a sharp weapon at a village in Kalimela area of Odisha’s Malkangiri district.
The incident came to light after the accused surrendered before the police on Saturday morning. Police arrested the man on the charge of killing his wife after he surrendered, sources said.
The incident took place in MV-66 village under the jurisdiction of Kalimela police station late on Friday. The accused was identified as Niten Biswas, who eked out a living by selling sugarcane juice in front of a school in Block Colony in Kalimela market.
Preliminary investigation indicated that the accused slit his wife’s throat with a sharp weapon in a fit of rage over a family dispute, killing her on the spot.
The accused is being interrogated after he surrendered before the police. He has confessed to the crime and further probe is underway. A case has been registered and further details are awaited.
