Jeypore: A man and his son were critically injured after a group of miscreants fired on them at Rajanagar Chhak in Jeypore of Koraput district on Tuesday.
The victims have been identified as Narendranath Nayak and his son Santosh Nayak. They were rushed to a hospital in Jeypore and later shifted to the district headquarters hospital for better treatment.
Santosh sustained deep bullet injury on his waist.
According to available information, a group of eight miscreants intercepted the duo and thrashed them severely before opening fire on them.
Locals suspect it to be a case of political rivalry.
Police have started investigation after seizing two empty cartridges from the spot.
