Balasore: A young man and his father died as the concrete wall of a house collapsed on them in Odisha’s Balasore on Monday.
According to sources, Sheikh Samiruddin, his wife Asima Biwi and son Sheikh Arif had gone to collect stone chips from roads in Paschimabada under Jaleswar police limits in the district. They were resting near a house of Samiruddin’s brother when its concrete wall collapsed.
On hearing their cries for help, the family members of the house rushed to the spot. With the help of the local people, they retrieved the three persons from under the debris and rushed them to a local hospital.
The doctors in the hospital declared Smiruddin brought dead while his son Arif succumbed during treatment. Asima’s condition was also critical as she sustained multiple injuries in the mishap.
Samiruddin’s sister-in-law Asam Biwi said, “They were sitting beside the wall when it collapsed on them. Asima cried out for help and we rushed to the spot. After we rescued her, she said Sairuddin and their son were under the debris. I called others and with their help brought the father and son from under the debris.”
On being informed, police went to the spot and started investigation after registering a case.
