Nagpur: A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death for allegedly staring at two women who were smoking cigarettes.
The crime took place at Nagpur’s Mahalaxmi Nagar late on Saturday night.
According to police, Jayashree Panjhade and her friend Savita Sayre were smoking in front of a pan shop. They were enraged when Ranjit Rathod, who had come to the shop to buy cigarettes, started staring at them.
An argument ensued, and got heated in no time. It escalated into a big fight after Ranjit took a video recording Jayashree abusing him and blowing smoke towards him.
The 30-year-old Jayashree then dialled someone called Akash Raut and asked him to reach the spot. On arrival there, Akash confronted Ranjit and stabbed him multiple times with a knife, reported NDTV.
Ranjit was grievously injured. Police personnel, who were alerted by passers-by, took Ranjit to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The incident was recorded on a security camera installed in the area.
Laxman Tawde, the shop owner and another witness told police that he shut shop and left after Jayashree called her friends.
Jayashree, Savita and Akash were arrested and a case has been registered against them.
