Bhawanipatna: The Inspector in-Charge of Jaipatna police station in Kalahandi district sustained serious injuries after he was stabbed by a man of Mukhiguda where the cop had gone to resolve a dispute on Saturday.
The IIC, Basudev Chhatria, was rushed to a hospital in a critical condition.
The accused has been identified as Kulamani Rath, an employee of Odisha Hydro Power Corporation(OHPC).
According to sources, Kulamani was wanted by Jaipatna police for assaulting his son with a sword. Basing on the complaint lodged by the victim, Jaipatna IIC conducted a raid at Kulamani’s house on Friday night. An irate Kulamani stabbed the IIC with a knife.
As a result, Chhatria sustained critical injuries on his face. On being informed, police rushed to the spot and shifted the IIC to Bhawanipatna hospital.
