Berhampur: A Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCC) was seriously injured in a bomb attack in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Thursday night.
According to police, the incident took place when Tukuna Bhuyan, CRCC of Digapahandi block in the district, was in his house at Raghupati Nagar 2nd line under Bada Bazar police station in Berhampur. Some miscreants entered his house and hurled bombs at him, police said.
Tukuna sustained multiple injuries on his chest, face and other parts of the body. On hearing the loud explosion, his neighbours rushed to his house, but the miscreants had fled by the time. They admitted Tukuna in MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur.
On being informed, a police team including Berhampur SP Saravana Vibek M and IIC of Bada Bazar police station Prasant Kumar Mallick went to the hospital and Tukuna’s house for investigation.
The SP said they had detained two persons in connection with the bomb attack and were being questioned.
The police suspected it to be a fallout of marital discord between Tukuna and his wife Bijayalaxmi who works as an Anganwadi worker. Tukuna and his wife Bijaylaxmi have been staying separately since 2020. While their son stays with Tukuna, their daughter resides with Bijaylaxmi, the sources said.
