Balangir: Police have seized a gunny bag with remains of a man, who was allegedly thrashed to death by his in-laws at Chabripali village under Khaprakhol police limits in Odisha’s Balangir district last night.
Two persons, who were driving the van with the body, have been detained for questioning.
Wife of the deceased, identified as Rudra Meher of Rajabhatipada village under Padampur police limits in Bargarh district, had moved back to her father’s place following a dispute between the couple. To persuade Sarojini to return to him, Rudra visited his in-laws on Wednesday. An argument, however, ensued and the family, in a fit of rage, thrashed him to death, sources said.
To destroy the evidence, they then stuffed the body in a gunny bag and loaded it in a van. Police, however, got whiff of the incident and intercepted the vehicle and seized the body.
The body has been sent for postmortem and further probe is underway.
