Jagatsinghpur: The Paradip police have arrested a person for allegedly tying a man to a moving truck for stealing a mobile phone in Odisha’s Jagasinghpur district.
The accused was identified as Pravakar Nayak of Betanda in Jajpur district. Efforts are on to arrest the others involved in the incident.
The victim, Gajendra Swain of Tikarpanga in Kendrapara district, has lodged a police complaint. He allegedly stole a mobile phone from the truck but was caught by drivers.
He was garlanded with slippers and tied to the moving truck on a bridge over the Mahanadi at Bhutamundai.
Taking suo motu cognizance of the matter, the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) has directed Jagatsinghpur SP to file a probe report within 15 days.
