Cuttack: A man got trapped while working inside a pumping station pipe at Tulasipur in Cuttack district on Thursday.
According to locals, the incident took place around 8 am when the victim identified as Pranakrushna Muduli got stuck inside the 2.5-wide pipe while carrying out cleaning work conducted by Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC). He accidentally slipped about 15-20 metres down apparently due to the pressure of pumping.
On being informed about the incident, ODRAF and fire officials rushed to the spot and launched an operation to rescue Muduli, an employee of the CMC.
Efforts are on to rescue him with the use of suction machine, breathing apparatus, blower and other equipment, sources said.
