Man tries to jump into tiger enclosure at Nandankanan, rescued

Bhubaneswar: In an alleged attempt to commit suicide, a man tried to jump into the Royal Bengal Tiger enclosure at Nandankanan Zoological Park here on Friday.

Prakash Panigrahi, a native of Balikuda, was stopped by the alert zoo officials and security personnel while he was scaling the iron mesh of 31 (A) enclosure, which houses two tigers.

Prakash, working as an electrician, was later handed over to Nandankanan police.

Investigation into the matter is underway to determine what prompted him to take the extreme step, police sources said.
