Berhampur: Police have arrested a man, who had allegedly committed murder 19 years back in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, Berhampur SP Saravana Vivek M said, Sankar Behera was wanted in the murder of Ganesh Sahu near Maa Kali Temple adjacent to Berhampur railway station 19 years ago. Sankar was also involved in a case in Gosaninuagaon police station in 2013.
But he succeeded in avoiding the arrest by the police all these years despite a non-bailable warrant (NBW) issued against him in 2021.
The SP said with the permission of the Sessions Court, Ganjam, the police had attached Sakar’s properties including his house at 4th lane, Nehru Nagar in Berhampur.
On Sunday morning, while Sankar was trying to visit his house secretly to meet his family members, he was arrested by a team from Gosaninuagaon police station.
